More God, Less Fear

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7

As I was writing this verse out, one word jumped out at me – spirit. There is a spirit called fear. This is a hideous spirit right from the pit of hell. Its job is to bring fear into every situation. Just listen to people's conversations. How much of what they say has at its root fear? All Fear has to do is plant a thought, which, in itself doesn't produce fear, our words do. If he can get us to say it, then he can produce it. God didn't have anything to do with fear. He did, however, have everything to do with giving us the victory over fear. God gave us power, love and a sound mind to get the upper hand over fear. 1 John 4:18 says that perfect love casts out fear. Verse 8 in the same chapter says God is love. Perfect love is God. Simply put, more God, less fear!
