More Than Enough
Then Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him. Genesis 26:12
Verse one of this chapter tells that there was a famine in the land. A famine is a severe drought. Nothing grows because there is no moisture in the ground. Isaac wanted to move away and start over but God had a different plan. God told Isaac to stay there and plant his crop. In the natural, this made absolutely no sense. His land looked just like everybody else's, a field of dust blowing in the wind.
Too many times we get an idea and want God to bless it with increase (guilty!). Isaac waited for God's idea and was obedient to it. The result? Isaac had a bumper crop out of dry ground that, under natural circumstances, couldn't grow anything.
I have a similar situation developing in my own life. I was talking with God one day about a need that was coming up. He told me to sow a pickup load of firewood. God provided the seed and then said I would know where to sow it. Two weeks went by and I still didn't have anyone to sow it into. Two days ago, I was contacted by someone who wanted to provide a neighbor with wood. My spirit leaped! I told him I would not only provide the wood, I wouldn't charge him anything for it. We will connect in a couple of weeks. I'm believing for not only that need met, but much more besides. My God is Jehovah Jirah, the God of more than enough!
