Shalom
And He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction." Mark 5:34
Part 2
Jesus told this woman to "Go in peace." Peace is the English translation. What Jesus really spoke was "Shalom". That word is used to say hello, goodbye, and in this instance, the full blessing of God. The medical community back then was not much different than today, in that it can bankrupt you. It did her because, in verse 26, she spent all she had. The illness robbed her of her health, money, and human contact because she wasn't allowed in public. When Jesus pronounced Shalom over her, that opened the door for her to get back everything she had lost! Some translations say made well while others say be made whole. I believe that is more accurate. This lady was made whole in every way because of her encounter with the King of kings.
