Truth Over Facts

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. 1 Corinthians 3:18

How in the world can someone deceive themselves? According to this verse, it's believing the world instead of the word. If what you believe is based on what you hear or see or read, you could be on the road to deceiving yourself.

Now, let me say this, what you hear see and read may very well be based on known facts. However, facts are not necessarily truth. If the word of God says something different than what you are believing, then you are deceiving yourself into believing that what you see is the truth.

Jesus was in a boat sailing across the Sea of Galilee. He had ministered all day and was physically tired so He went to sleep. A storm came up that put the ship in danger. The disciples woke Jesus up. He got up and spoke to the storm and calm set in. Please understand, the storm was real but it wasn't truth, it was fact. Facts always move for truth, truth doesn't move for facts unless facts are made greater than truth (deceived).

It would be easy to say that the storm obeyed Jesus because He was God in the flesh. Then why did Jesus turn to His disciples and say "Where's your faith?" In other words, they had the power to do what He did. They could have used truth to change facts. Don't let the facts swirling around these days deceive you into believing they are greater than our God.
