Give No Offense

Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God. 1 Corinthians 10:32

You can be completely right about something, but if your rightness causes someone to be offended, then you are wrong. Many years ago, I didn't have any knowledge of this principle. If I was right, I was right, and if that offended someone, that wasn't my problem. You wouldn't think that having different versions of the Bible would be a big deal, but it was causing a division in the body. At the time, my frame of mind was to add fuel to the fire. Instead of deferring to others, I dug my heals in, causing hurt feelings. Why didn't I let it go? Because it was more important to be right at that time. I'm glad I have grown in wisdom and knowledge since then. It's nice to be right, but not at the expense of others.
