Never Speak Future Tense

-God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did. Romans 4:17b

Have you ever noticed that God never speaks in the future tense? In Genesis 1:3, God said, "Let there be light,"; and there was light. Do you see it? God spoke in the present tense, and the result was in the past tense. God didn't say, "Light, be here someday!" If He did that, we could still be waiting for light. God called everything into existence at the beginning. He made plans for everyone to live out before the earth was formed. When Jesus was on the cross, He declared, "It is finished!" The price for man's salvation was paid, even though there were things He had to go through in hell.

I've started to study what I say about things. I have to admit I slip up at times and say things in the future tense. We have been trained to speak this way by the world, so it's time to retrain ourselves to speak the way God does.

We have a man in our church who has felt God's call to run for public office. I greeted him last Sunday by calling him Representative Bauman. He really liked that, and so did I. I'm going to paraphrase a verse here, " A man who will speak good days will see good days".
