Getting the Word Down Deep

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21

In 1996 I had a logging accident. I was working on a machine, and the battery blew up, drenching my face and neck in battery acid, along with my eyes. I could feel the acid drip from my face, but it wasn't burning. I loaded my tools and dog in my pickup and drove to the hospital. I had spent years getting God's word in me, and that is all that came out of my mouth. I would pray in tongues and then shout the word.

"No weapon formed against me shall prosper!"

"No poison has any effect on my body!"

"I am healed in the name of Jesus!"

I prayed some more and shouted the word. I got to the hospital, and they started working on me immediately. I was told I had 3rd-degree burns on my face and neck and that I would have permanent eye damage or blindness. I was also told I would be in a great deal of pain. None of that moved me.  I was so caught up in what God said that I didn't listen to what man said. They cleaned me up and gave me a prescription for some pain meds. I remember telling them I wouldn't need that because Jesus bore my pain. I never had pain at all! I was given an eye test before going home, and my eyes tested 20/20.

That evening I led a Bible study at our house, and everyone in attendance watched all the redness in my face went away. I never had any blistering, and I don't wear any burn scars. What we choose to speak has everything to do with our outcome at the end of the day.
