Practical Application to the Word
A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment. Proverbs 18:1
This is one of those verses that I have misunderstood for a lot of years. In fact, I started to do this last night and wound up erasing it all because I just couldn't get it right. I went to bed asking the Holy Spirit to show me where I was missing it, and boy did He!
I had a man working on my crew one time who couldn't get along with anyone. He was a nice enough guy, but no matter where I put him, he would cause trouble. This took place 35 years ago, and I just understood the problem last night. Even though there were 25 people on the crew, this man chose to isolate himself and form his own ideas about what his job was. He would have a verbal altercation with everyone I put him with.
I did a mental inventory of problem people, and every one of them fit the framework of this verse. I have been a student of the Bible for many years, and I am still amazed at how practical it is when applied to everyday situations.
