The "If Only" Game

"Wisdom is in the sight of him who has understanding, but the eyes of a fool are on the ends of the earth." Proverbs 17:24

You've undoubtedly heard the expression, "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence." I have a friend who complained about every job he had. I would just listen to him, never giving advice or agreeing with him. It didn't take me long to realize that the one common denominator in all these businesses was him.

Sometimes we look so long and hard at all the good "over there" that we don't even see all the good that we have right where we are. I must admit that I, too, have been guilty of playing the "if only" game. If only I had this, or if only I had that, my life would be so much better. That is a bad game to play, and there are never any winners. God has a plan for every contingency. If we will learn to tap into His resources, we will be living where everyone else wants to be.
