Collecting Things or People
"For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." 1 Timothy 6:7
I came across this verse while reading this morning, and I can't seem to get away from it, so here we go. It is pretty clear that nothing goes with us when we leave this world. We come into this world as a blank slate. We may be born with a title and privilege, but we don't take either with us when we leave this life. The things you treasure will be staying here. There are two things, however, that are exceptions to this. You take yourself, and you can take other people.
What we do in the time we have on earth determines where and how we spend eternity. We spend too much time collecting money and things, and not nearly enough time developing relationships. First and foremost is our relationship with Jesus. This is the whole reason for these devotions. I don't want anyone to just barely get into heaven. Worse yet, I don't want anyone to miss out on an eternity with Jesus because they got some wrong teaching. Have a blessed day today!
