The Word "Love"

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him." 1 John 2:15

We have a problem with the word "love".  The problem is we have one word to describe all the facets of love. We use the very same word to describe how we feel about people, how we feel about pizza, and how we feel about God. Simple logic tells us there is something sketchy about this.

I have never done this before, but I'm not going to give my reasoning for this verse. As I have been contemplating this, my understanding has changed enough that I'm having to rethink how I view this verse. I know this much; God desires love at such a deep level that all other kinds of love pale in comparison.

To answer the question I threw out yesterday, no amount of Bible reading pleases God. We don't read to please Him; we read to find out about Him. God is all about relationships with us. He's not legalistic.
