Our Starting Point

"And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist." Colossians 1:17

I was reading the other day about a singer who decided that there was no God because a "real" God wouldn't allow the hurts they have experienced In their life. They decided that they could no longer believe in God and so declared themselves atheists.

If we focus on people or circumstances, we'll never see God. He is our starting point, not our conclusion. If we focus on the world, we'll never see God. On the other hand, if we make God our focus, we see His handiwork all around us. He literally becomes the center of our world instead of a small component of our world.

I don't know if the person I mentioned will come back to God. I hope they do. An eternity separated from God is much too high of a price to pay.
