Guard Your Mouth
"He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction." Proverbs 13:3
Have you ever said something that you knew was wrong before you said it, and you still said it? Well, I've done it! I can't even tell you why. In my younger days, I had no knowledge or training in the importance of the words I spoke.
Think of it this way; words are seeds. What do seeds do? They grow into an eventual harvest. The harvest you get depends on the type of seeds you plant. The words you speak are the seeds you plant, and you will get a harvest. You have the choice of harvest you get. Do the words you speak build up or tear down? Do you speak words of encouragement, or do you speak defeat? Do you complain a lot?
We are told in this verse to place a guard on our mouth. That is very good advice!
