Amazing Encounter
About this time of year, my mind goes back to an incident that happened over 30 years ago. We were living in a town that was experiencing one snowstorm after another.
We were driving home one night and slid off the road. We were sitting there wondering what to do when a face appeared at my window. A very friendly man appeared with two shovels and asked if we needed help. He and I went to work digging the car out while having a good conversation. I didn't think anything about it because we were next to a house.
Pretty soon, he looked up and saw headlights coming, announcing that help was on the way. A pickup came and the driver made quick work out of getting us back on the road. I didn't notice that the man was gone that helped me dig out. I naturally assumed he went back into his house.
We took some cookies to the house to say thank you. Turns out the man that helped us didn't live there and the people in the house didn't know who we were talking about. It was an angel! Had I known, I would have asked a whole different set of questions. I wish I had kept the shovel!
