Being a Doer
Being a doer of the word takes commitment, tenacity, and patience. Okay, I'm just going to say it- there is work involved, and it's not always easy! I can tell you from experience that there is some trial and error that will take place.
A number of years ago, I had the privilege of going on a couple of mission trips to Romania. One of the things we did was speak at a church in a gypsy village. I had never been in a church like this before or since. There were no windows or doors. It had a dirt floor and two bare lightbulbs hanging from the rafters. What struck me the most was the genuine happiness of these people. The average income was 500.00 per year for each family, but they had built a church! Not only that, but a group of Americans was coming, which created such anticipation that they arrived 2 hours before we did.
Fast forward two years, and we went back to that same village. That church was absolutely beautiful! There were doors and windows and perhaps the most gorgeous tile floors I have ever seen outside of the United States. That church also had light fixtures that were beautiful. What happened? The money situation hadn't changed, and they were still in deep poverty. They were doers of the word, and God stands behind His word to perform it!
