Just Keep Practicing
"If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth." 1 John 1:6
Anyone who has played sports or played a musical instrument knows what practice is. We practice to get better. There is nothing glamorous about practice, and it can be rather tedious. I like watching a skilled musician playing in front of thousands of people, and I wonder how many lonely hours were invested in getting to that point. Nobody wants to spend their money to listen to one mistake after another.
The Christian life takes practice to be skilled at it. Nobody starts off as a mature Christian. It takes time and effort to be good at it. You learn the truth, and you practice it until you are skilled at it. That doesn't mean you won't make mistakes along the way. You are going to, so don't worry about it. Just start over.
For many years, Babe Ruth was the home-run king. Do you know who had the most strikeouts? Babe Ruth. He wasn't afraid to miss a swing here and there, and he didn't dwell on his mistakes. Babe kept his eye on the prize. As a Christian, keep your eye on the prize and just keep practicing.
