Judging by the Heart

Let's face it: we judge by appearance. We are constantly judging people. How they dress, what they say, and the actions we see all give us the picture we need to make assessments about them. The problem is we see only what they want us to see.

God is not impressed by how someone looks. He zeros right into the heart. You see, the heart reveals the true person. You aren't going to impress God with fancy clothes or lots of money. He is favorable towards a heart full of humility, a noble character, someone who speaks the truth, who is teachable, and who walks in honor. The Bible says that no one dressed better than Solomon, but Jesus said that wildflowers are more glorious than Solomon ever was.

I was sitting in a restaurant one day, having lunch. While I was waiting, I was busy observing people. One table had a group of men at it. As I was watching them, Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, "Do you know how much I love them"? From that moment, I started seeing them through God's eyes.

I was making judgments based on what I saw and what I heard, and then I started seeing people through the eyes of Love Himself. My view changed dramatically, not that it was bad to begin with. I was seeing people from the inside out instead of the outside in. My day was radically changed.
