Never an Exception

Talk about a humbling verse! Just when you think you know something, you find out you don't know much at all. That's okay, though, because this is a journey we are on. You will never get to the end of a verse because the layers run deep.

I remember reading about a well-known preacher of the last century. He did a series of special services, preaching 3 times a day for two weeks. He used John 3:16 for the text of each service. That is 21 sermons off of the same verse, and he never repeated himself. For most people, John 3:16 is the first verse we memorize. It seems so simple and one-dimensional, and yet, if you will give yourself to it, you will start peeling back layer after layer. That seemingly simple verse will just keep going and going.

This is the rule, not the exception, throughout the Bible.
