Resource for History
A person who lives a long life is a wonderful resource for history. Think about this: if someone were alive today who was 120 years old, they would have lived the entire time man has flown up to this point. They would have lived from the Wright Brothers' first flight to man landing on the moon, to the space shuttle, to supersonic flight.
Back in the 1950s, there was a show on TV called "What's My Line." The guests on the show would share a secret with the host, and the panel had to guess what it was by asking questions. A man in his late 90s appeared on the show. His secret? He was watching a play at Ford Theater the night Lincoln was shot!
Living 120 years is good, but not if the last 30 years are in a nursing home. This verse is one of my favorites because it shows that you can be satisfied with a long life.
I honestly don't know if I'll live that long or if I even want to. What I do want is to be productive and clear-minded right up to the day I go home. I want to leave this world full of years and satisfied!
