Ready, Willing, and Able
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
In this discourse, Jesus is telling the people not to focus on needs. If we aren’t careful, it’s easy to be need-minded instead of God-minded. Most people have a head knowledge of God, not a heart knowledge.
I have this vivid image burned into my mind. I heard it over and over growing up. The image is a worship service singing hymns. The songs had truth in them, songs like “Victory in Jesus” and “Power in the blood”. I have this mental image of watching people sing, and then listening to them after the service, talking about their troubles and not knowing what they were going to do. I have contemplated those scenes over and over in the years since, and how heart knowledge is different from head knowledge.
Heart knowledge will take you through the hard times where head knowledge won’t get you anywhere. This is exactly what Deuteronomy 28 is all about. God wants to be our only source, not our last hope. He is ready, willing, and able to carry us through anything we could encounter, with room to spare.
