Sunsets vs Hurricanes
When I read this verse, I immediately thought of a beautiful sunrise or sunset. They don't last long and don't create damage, but they can command our full attention.
On the other hand, is there anything more powerful than a hurricane? Yet its awesome power has people running for their lives, and the damage and destruction left behind can totally ruin a person's day.
One of these carries unbelievable power, and the other one is quiet and easily missed. I have seen pictures of one plant that can be plucked out of the ground without much effort. That same fragile plant can split a rock apart.
During the Great Depression, there were rich and powerful people who lost virtually everything they owned in a very short span of time. Then there were other people who didn't have lots of money at the time, but they not only survived but thrived.
Flashy and powerful doesn't impress God one bit, but He will move heaven and earth for a righteous person who honors Him with all they have.
