Swept Under the God-Carpet
There has come some error concerning this verse, so hang on to your hats; we may be here awhile.
A whole doctrine has emerged concerning times to die. Why do some die young, and some live long lives? Why do some people take care of their bodies and end up dying early, while other people abuse their bodies and live long lives? These are mysteries we want answers to.
The church has added its voice to the mystery by stating that God has specific lifespans for each person. Mystery solved! Just one more thing to be swept under the God-carpet.
First of all, if God has different lifespans for different people, that would make Him a respecter of people. Romans 10:34 states that God doesn't treat one person one way and another person another way. He will not go against His word, so "different strokes for different folks" just doesn't answer anything.
