Good and Bad People
While I don't find the verse particularly funny, I do find it mildly amusing. There are no deep spiritual meanings in this verse. There aren't even any shallow meanings, either. It does, however, speak to basic human nature.
As long as there have been people, there have been good ones and bad ones. Times have changed, but people haven't. Every generation has had its problems and its triumphs, its ups and downs, its risks and its rewards.
There is a movement today that wants to eliminate history. I personally think that is a huge mistake. The thing I have noticed is history records the people who did great things and the ones who were bad to the bone. The people who lived quietly, did their jobs, raised their families, and built communities aren't mentioned at all. But you know what? God knows! And one day, all the good done through the ages will be revealed and rewarded. All the evil that has been done will be revealed and judged.
