Believe For It

Then Abraham lifted his eyes and looked, and there behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. So Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up for a burnt offering instead of his son. And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord- Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” Genesis 22:13-14

Have you ever heard it said that God is never late, but rarely early? It is so true. God will always provide – His name is Jehovah Jireh, meaning the Lord-Will-Provide. However, have you noticed that His timing and our timing can be quite different?

We don’t want to wait, and we certainly don’t want to be uncomfortable in the waiting. So, why does it seem that God waits till the very last minute? That is when your faith is primed and ready to receive. If you go to the point of no return with God, you are telling Him that you are putting all of your trust in Him.

Back in 2002, I recorded an album. It was a faith project from the beginning to the end. The day came that I was needed to go pick up my box of CDs. I was supposed to pay around $875.00 for them – an amount that I wasn’t even close to having. However, I knew God had called me to do this project, so I got bold with Him. I said, “God, you told me to write the songs, so I did. You told me to record the album, so I did. This is Your project and Your bill. I believe that it is paid in full.”

Well, I still didn’t have the money on the way to pick up my CDs, but I had a calm peace and knew that somehow God would provide. I ended up having to put the amount on a credit card when I picked up the CDs. What I didn’t know, and soon found out, someone had already paid the amount in full. They just didn’t know how to tell me it was taken care of because they wanted to stay anonymous. Praise God! He wasn’t early, but He wasn’t late.

I think we give up on God many times in our lives too soon. We have faith, but only within our timetable. When things start to get questionable, we are quick to take back the reigns and control of the situation. Unfortunately, when we do that, we short-circuit what God wants to do and, most of all, miss out on the blessing He prepared for us.

Even if it seems that God is late, keep your faith in HIm. Mary and Martha were upset with Jesus when He didn’t come and heal their brother in time. Notice in that event, Jesus wasn’t rushed by the circumstances. Even though it seemed that Jesus had messed up, He was able to raise Lazurus from the dead.

There might be situations in your life where you think God was too late. What you believed for is now dead. I want to encourage you that God can resurrect what you thought was dead. Keep your faith and expectation in Him and what He can and will do for you.

Dear Lord, thank you for being my Jehovah Jireh and providing everything I need even if it doesn’t seem to fit my timetable. I know your timing is perfect, so I put my faith in you. Amen.
