In His Presence

O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You! Psalm 84:12

Psalm 84 is a beautiful Psalm about being in the presence of God. There is no place I would rather be than where God is. Psalm 84:10-11 says, “For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wickedness. For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.”

In other words, it’s better to be on the outskirts of God’s presence than not at all. Even the doorkeeper is blessed by being in proximity to the master. Nothing is better than being in the presence of God. However, staying in His presence requires us to choose to be there and trust Him. We have to believe that He is good and has beautiful things in store for us.

So how do we stay in the presence of God? If you are born again, you are blessed to have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of you. We don’t have to look far. One of the best ways to get into God’s presence is through praise and thanksgiving. The Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people. That doesn’t mean that you have to go around singing a worship song all day. But we should have an attitude of worship all day.

God promises that “no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” His blessings are waiting for you to take hold of by obeying Him and living In His presence. As you go about your day, have an attitude of gratitude and worship to our God, and you will find yourself in the blessing of His presence.

Dear Lord, I purpose to have an attitude of gratitude and worship and dwell in your presence today. Amen.
