I Cannot Be Defeated
Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; 'For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.' Isaiah 12:2
Salvation means so much more than a ticket to heaven. Don't get me wrong – the most crucial part of salvation is never being separated from God again. But salvation doesn't just start when you get to heaven. It begins the moment you repent and ask Jesus into your life.
He gives us a new life now – a life full of His blessing for what we face in the world daily. As this verse says, He is our strength, and song for the Bible says, "the joy of the Lord is my strength." If we understand what is given to us through salvation, we will never doubt God's love for us. We would never let fear entertain our minds.
We can stand a little taller with confidence in who we are in Christ. In fact, when we are in Christ, the enemy will flee because all he sees is the One who already defeated him. There's not a thing the enemy can do to you when you are found in Christ.
We just have to remember to keep our armor on. Ephesians 6 talks about the helmet of salvation. The Roman helmets that Paul refers to in the scripture are the kind of helmets that shield your whole face. Salvation covers your entire head. Therefore if you keep your face shield down, the enemy won't be able to tell it's you. The Bible says he'll think it's Jesus and run in terror. But we have to do our job and daily put the armor on. We need to stay in the Word – in Jesus (who is the Word).
When we are in Christ, there's not a battle that we can't win. You will be undefeated in Christ. When I was in High School, our basketball team was undefeated. We all walked into an opponent's gym with a confident "swagger" because we knew we would win the game. Even though the rest of us (the student body) didn't play the game, we were confident in our players and knew we would come out on top. When we are with Jesus, we can walk with a "holy swagger," knowing that our Savior is undefeated! We will win every battle in Him!
Dear Lord, thank you for my salvation and the opportunity to be found in You. I have complete confidence knowing that I cannot be defeated if I don't quit. Amen.
