How I Fight My Battles
The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace. Exodus 14:14
I like this kind of verse since I do not like conflict. In fact, I’m an enneagram 9 – which, if you know anything about the enneagram personality profile, it means just that – I don’t like conflict. Therefore, a verse like this is comforting to me.
God is willing and able to fight our battles and will do a far better job than we ever could. He knows how to get to the root of a problem and make us look good in the process. It’s amazing to me to watch God turn a hopeless situation around for good. In fact, Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
So, what is our job if God is fighting for us? Our job is exactly what the scripture says. We are to hold our peace. Keeping our peace looks like turning the other cheek, praying for your enemy, forgiving, and moving on with life. Is that easier said than done? Yes! One of the hardest things to do is swallow your pride. It’s hard to imagine that anything will get done if we sit back and let God handle our problems. But trust me, the results will be far better than you could ever hope or imagine when you let God take control.
Letting God fight your battles is not weak. It takes courage to trust God that He will work things out for your good. It takes strength of heart and character to rise above the hurt and give it to God. Remember that you are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you. Your victory is found in Him alone.
Dear Lord, thank you for fighting my battles. I trust that You will work all things out for my good. Amen.
