My Portion Forever
My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26
Did you know that you will live forever? Not here on earth, but you will live forever. Every person who has ever lived is still living today. However, where they are living is different. Those who have made Jesus the Lord of their lives live in Heaven, and when we get there, we will meet them. The sad reality is that there are people in hell who will be there forever as well.
You are a three-part being. First of all, you are a spirit – the real part of you that will live forever. That’s why it’s the most essential part of who you are and should get the most attention. Your spirit was recreated from a sinful nature to a righteous one because of Jesus.
Next, you live in a body. As you are aware, your body is left behind at the end of your life here on earth. You need to take care of your temple, but it’s not to be worshiped or let run your life. We need to discipline our bodies because it still has a sinful nature. You are a spirit, you live in a body, and you have a soul, your mind, will, and emotions. Your soul is the part of you connected to both your spirit and your body. I teach about the soul in-depth in my book, Planted.
Your flesh will fail one day, but your spirit is strengthened day by day and will continue to be strengthened forever.
Dear Lord, thank you for strengthening my spirit daily. You are the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Amen.
