Greatly Rejoice
The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him. Psalm 28:7
David, the writer of Psalms had a tender relationship with God that we can all emulate. David knew God personally. He had built a relationship with Him from the time he was a young boy tending the sheep. David understood and realized His covenant with God as well.
David learned that his strength came from God and the protection he experienced was because God was on his side. He trusted that God would help him in every situation that he faced. However, David, like all of us, went through a dark time. He went from living in the palace and being known as a hero to all the people to living in caves while being hunted. David found that in every situation he faced, God helped him to succeed.
Have you had times when God has helped you – when you have felt His undeniable strength and protection? I’m guessing the answer is yes because God is so good to us! David often took time to remember and thank God for all He had done in his life. That is part of the reason we have the Psalms. David poured out his thanksgiving in song.
David was unashamed to show his gratitude to God. He would sing and dance before God, loving and rejoicing in God with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his strength. David could teach us a lot about what true worship means – what it looks like and sounds like.
I want to challenge you today to worship and show your gratitude to God today. Don’t be afraid of what others think about you, but greatly rejoice in God thanking Him for all He has done in your life.
Dear Lord, thank you for being my strength and shield. I greatly rejoice in you today! Amen.
