He Is Able

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

This verse will put a smile on your face! Have you ever allowed yourself to think big – I mean really big! So, big that it felt ridiculous? God gave us an imagination for a reason. He wants us to have a vision for what is possible. I would say most of us limit ourselves to what we see or think is possible. In fact, many people say that they don’t want to get their hopes up about something in case it doesn’t come to pass.

However, God gave us the ability to dream big, and He wants us to use it. Our verse says that He is ABLE to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think. He is able! Of course, believing that He is able isn’t the hard part. After all, He’s God. We know that He can do big things. We cut Him short because many of us don’t believe that He can do it for us.

We judge ourselves for what we have done or not done. We think about all the times we mess up and buy into the lie that we have somehow disqualified ourselves. Let me put your mind at ease. God’s blessings don’t hinge on if we deserve them. None of us deserve anything, yet He wants to bless us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places!

He already has given us more than we can imagine! He has redeemed us with the blood of Jesus and has made ours forever home with Him in Heaven. We can’t get our minds around how wonderful Heaven is or will be. We have a hard time imagining or grasping eternity. Everything in our lives has a beginning and end, so it’s hard to believe or wrap our minds around something we haven’t experienced. We have to grab ahold of it by faith.

Give yourself permission to dream big. Spend time imagining what Heaven will be like and how you will spend eternity. What will your mansion look like? What do you think you’ll do for fun? Who are you looking forward to having a conversation with? Then remember that God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all you can ask or think!

Dear Lord, thank you for this incredible promise. Help me grasp the magnitude of your love and dare to dream, think big thoughts, and ask for big things according to Your Word. Amen.
