Beautiful Friends

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. Proverbs 17:17

Is there anything better than a really good friend? I have been blessed with many sweet friendships. They have been sprinkled like beautiful wildflowers amongst the landscape of my life. They have brought me joy, laughter, support, and prayer. I am also thankful for those in my family who have become my closest friends. They have nurtured me and grown up with me, and I’m now blessed to call my own children my friends.

The Bible teaches us a lot about friendships with wonderful examples like David and Johnathon. They were closer than brothers with a bond that was anointed by God. They found their friendship in the best of times, but the hardships and trials that David faced solidified their bond. Those are the tried and true friends. The ones that help you through your most challenging days.

Did you know that God calls you His friend? James 2:23 says, “And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, ‘Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.’ And he was called the friend of God.” Abraham was called God’s friend because he developed a relationship with Him. He knew God and trusted Him just like you would trust your best friend.

God wants to be your friend too. Because of the Holy Spirit living inside of us, we can communicate with Him all day, every day. Isn’t that great news? He has also blessed us with amazing people in our lives to give us the physical touch, support, and fun that we need. Spend time thanking Him for His friendship with you and the beautiful flowers of friendships He has given you.

Dear Lord, thank you for my friends. I pray that you bless them with your favor today and every day. Amen.
