A New Covenant
So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you. Exodus 23:25
This verse comes as part of a promise from God to the children of Israel. The Israelites had a covenant with God that, in essence, said if they obeyed and served God, they would have many blessings – healing included. So if God was speaking this to the children of Israel in the Old Testament, does it have any truth for us today? The answer is yes!
God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. However, the covenant we now have with God is the new and improved version! Hebrews 9:14-15 reads, “how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this reason he is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.”
All of that to say, through Christ, we have the promises from the old and new covenant available to those who believe in Him. We can receive our healing because of what Christ Jesus did on the cross. He took each stripe on His back for our healing (1 Peter 2:24). And that is something to be truly thankful for.
Dear Lord, thank You for our new covenant of precious promises. Thank you for sending Jesus for my redemption and healing. Amen.
