A Good Steward

Moreover, it Is required of stewards that one be found faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2

Every person on earth is a steward of something. You can tell a good steward by how they take care of their things. Whenever I think of stewardship I am reminded of these two farmers near where we lived in Oregon. Their farms were within a mile of each other but that was about all they had in common. The one farm needed attention. The barns needed paint boards replaced, fences were broken down, trees needed to be tended to, and the barnyard was filthy. The whole place just looked gloomy. His neighbor down the road had big metal-clad barns, a new house, a well-equipped shop, updated equipment, an in-ground swimming pool, and an airstrip for his two airplanes.

What was the difference between the two farmers? One took care of his stuff and the other didn't. Before the one farmer built his new house, he took care of the old house he had. We all have things to manage. Time is a big one. I have found that those who don't have time to do anything don't do anything with the time they have. You may have a wreck of a car but are you taking care of it? Is it clean and serviced? We all want better things than what we have, right? Well, start taking care of the things you have. That is what it means to be a good steward.
