Chose a Merry Heart
All the days of the afflicted are evil, but he who has a merry heart has a continual feast. Proverbs 15:14
I've encountered people that can't see the good in anything. I really think they look for things to go wrong. They seem to believe that they are magnets for bad things. I encountered one of these individuals recently. What a joy to be around! On the other hand, I'm one of those merry heart people. I see the good everywhere, although there are times I have to look pretty hard to find it. Mayo Clinic is one of those places where humor is a rare commodity, but if it's there, I'll find it.
I started watching this lady trying to maneuver her motorized cart. One metal post stood in the way between captivity and freedom. Mind you, there was ample room on either side to go around, but that post became the biggest problem in her life, and it had to go! It took her three tries to knock that post down, but it was successful. What an example of perseverance in the face of adversity! Once free, she sped off down the hall at full speed. I can only assume she was in search of her next victim.
We have the power to choose how we spend our days. I have chosen a merry heart.
