What's Done Is Done
"But to him who is joined to all the living there is hope, for a live dog is Better than a dead lion." Ecclesiastes 9:4
The first time I read this, I thought it was a random statement, and I wondered why it was in the Bible. In fact, I thought I had found my new quirky verse I could bring out at parties or wherever humans were gathered. However, I couldn't get away from it, so I finally asked Holy Spirit if there was any spiritual significance to it. Thus started a sleepless night; thank you very much!
Lions were greatly feared. In fact, one lion could terrorize a whole village for years. A dead lion can't harm anyone. It just lays there. It can't even bury itself. Translate this to people. An evil person has no more evil to spew when they die. A good person has no more good to give when they die. What is done is done. No one ever comes back from the grave for unfinished business.
The same goes for thoughts. We can be controlled by them, but we have the power to render thoughts useless against us by God's word. Once their power is gone, it's gone! Thank you, Jesus!
