Addressing Your Fear
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7
In Matthew chapter 8, starting at verse 23, Jesus and His disciples get into a boat to go across the sea. Jesus was tired and went to sleep. A great storm arose with waves that were coming into the boat. Fear gripped the disciples to the point that they just knew they were going to die. They woke Jesus up to do something. He calmed the storm by speaking to it, but then He turned His attention to the others in the boat and addressed their fear. Jesus asked them point blank why they were in fear.
Have you ever noticed that when fear gets ahold of you, you don't think clearly? You imagine all kinds of things, and none of them are good. A number of years ago, we were flying to Seattle. Over the Rockies, we experienced some steady turbulence. Fear tried to get into me, but I started quoting scripture. As I kept at it, I could feel a calmness start to overtake me. I had the best sleep I've ever had while flying. Fear was no match for God's word! It will work for you, too! Every time!
