Let the Bible Answer the Bible
"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does no need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15
One of the key things I endeavor to do in studying the Bible is to interpret the word right. If the word can be rightly divided, it can also be wrongly divided. There are some verses that I do try to stay away from. These verses contain content that could be controversial in a way. One such verse is Mark 16:18, "They will take up serpents." There are churches that have made a whole doctrine out of handling snakes. No, thank you! While I don't fear snakes, I live by the rule, "the only good snake is a dead snake!"
What this verse does do is give protection against snake bites, not make a form of worship. As a teacher, I let the Bible answer the Bible. I'm not interested in giving my opinion, but I do want to challenge some traditional thinking. In the end, my goal is to make God real and reachable.
