Head or Heart Knowledge
"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." James 1:22
There is a saying that gets thrown around that I really don't like, "Do as I say, not as I do." Unfortunately, a lot of Christians are in this category when it comes to the things of God. They talk a better game than they live. They say the right things but fail at living them out. It boils down to head knowledge vs heart knowledge. You can know the word in your mind, but if it's not in your heart, it's not going to do you much good.
One of the verses I camped out on was Mark 16:18, which I interpreted as "no poison has any effect on my body.” I can't tell you why this verse, but I got it deep into my spirit, not knowing if I would ever use it. Well, I had an accident where a battery blew up in my face. My face was bathed in battery acid, which left me with 3rd degree burns on my face. Mark 16:18 was so deep in me that I spoke it every time I opened my mouth. My face, neck, and eyes were all washed in that battery acid.
The doctor that was working on me at the hospital said I would be in a lot of pain, my face would be scarred, and have diminished eyesight or blindness. I never had any pain, I was left with one little scar on my neck, and my eyes tested 20/20! If you find yourself facing a life-changing situation, that is not the time to start looking up scripture. It's either in you, or it's not. That is your choice to make!
