Words To Fall Back Onto

"A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth..." Proverbs 12:14a

When I was very young, I had a book called "What do you say, dear?" It was an etiquette book that gave different scenarios, and you had to figure out the right response. (The answers were in the back.) We get into a conversation on a daily basis and don't often say the right things. It is so easy to fall back on the world's way of responding. Well, we have a book that has all the right things to say in every situation called the Bible.

God thought of every need we would ever have in this life, including what to say. As Christians, our words should bring peace, joy, and comfort. They should build up instead of tearing down and bring life instead of death. There are times when the best thing to say is nothing at all.

I was in a conversation recently that went into politics, which drove the conversation down at warp speed. Before I could regroup, I was giving verbal consent to the things being said. While what I said wasn't a lie, it also wasn't something that need to be said. I wasn't satisfied with good by what came out of my mouth.
