Believe it is Effective

"The word of God works effectively in you who believe." 1 Thessalonians 2:13b (paraphrased)

There are a couple of things we learn from this verse at first sight.

1) God's word is effective, and

2) You have to believe it is effective.

When is the last time you, or someone you know, were just minding their business and got hit with the word of God so hard that it changed your life completely? This happened to the apostle Paul, but it's not the normal way. Of course, most people aren't going around putting God's people in prison, as Paul was doing at the time.

The word is effective in our lives when we believe it is. The word has to become bigger than the problem you are facing. You can't experience the new birth if you don't believe in it. You will never experience God's healing power if you can't believe He's the healer. In short, you will never experience anything God has for you if you don't believe He has it for you. God is a giver! Are you a taker?
