Starting Small

I had a friend I admired very much. He owned a lumber company and was very successful. When I got acquainted with him, he was very wealthy. When he first started out, he didn't have much of anything of value. He had a very small sawmill and big dreams. He worked hard physically and mentally and built up an outstanding business. When he finally retired, his kids took over the business.

Within 5 years, they were bankrupt, and the business was done. What happened? The kids didn't work the business, but they knew how to spend money. They didn't value what they had. They inherited a thriving business and didn't know how to run it.

Starting out small is a gift that few recognize. The Bible is clear that if you are faithful in little, you will be faithful in much. Starting out small is the fast track to greater. Apple computers started in a garage. Federal Express started with 7 small airplanes and a dream. On their first day in business, they delivered 12 packages. Talk about small beginnings!

If you are faithful in the little, the more will come. Ministry is the very same. If you are faithful in the small, you will see growth.
