Testing Wisely

"Test all things; hold fast what is good." 1 Thessalonians 5:21

We test things all the time. "I wonder if that stop sign really means stop?" "I wonder if I can get away with driving 10 miles per hour over the limit"? We all have things we put to the test every day. Ever have your patience tested?

God's word has been tested time and time again, but you know what? His word is truth, and it will stand long after we are gone. There is only one place in the Bible where we are given permission to put God to the test. This is found in Malachi 3:10.

What today's verse is referring to is testing all things against the word. If you or I believe something is true, but that belief is contrary to the word, we have a decision to make. We can continue believing what we have always believed, or we can change what we believe to line up with the word.

I came to the conclusion years ago that God is right and I am wrong. God will never force any of us to believe His word. That choice is ours to make. Choose wisely.
