Unmatched Expectations

This verse was in reference to Jesus. It was written by Isaiah the prophet in Isaiah 53:1 and quoted by John here. The Jewish people were expecting the messiah (Jesus) to come save Israel. The sad part is they are still expecting, not understanding that Jesus has already come.

The Jewish leaders were expecting a spectacular man to come as the Son of God. Jesus didn't fit the profile of their expectations. He didn't come from the right family, He didn't come from the right town, He didn't have the right credentials, and He didn't act like who they were expecting.

Sometimes, the reality of a situation cannot live up to what is expected. More often than not, the real is rejected as false. I don't know how many times God has shown up only to have people say, "That's not God!" Why do people say things like that? I believe the reason is the reality doesn't match the expectations; therefore, the real is rejected in favor of the expectation.

This sounds kind of deep, and I suppose it is, but we just need to be careful how we react to the move of God. Believe me, I've been there and done that, so I'm speaking from experience!
