Just The Way You Are?

There is a belief among many that the way you are is just the way God made you. That is a convenient thought because it means that you can't help the way you are. That's not right thinking. You may do things that are contrary to the word, but if that is the way God made you, that means God is bending His law in your case.

We are all products of our family, our friends, our environment, and our personal beliefs. When we become a new creation, we have a new family, new friends, a new environment, and a new belief system.

One of the things I had to deal with was talking about what I was going to do tomorrow when tomorrow hadn't come. Then I came face to face with Proverbs 27:1, and I had a choice to make. I could continue with what I was doing, or I could let the word change my thinking.

I chose to conform to the word. It wasn't easy, and there was time involved, not to mention a few setbacks. After some time, my mind was renewed, and now I can't even imagine the old me.
